Gain of that which we resent
Loss of that which we infatuate
Resentment = the perception that are more drawbacks than benefits
Infatuation = the perception that there are more benefits than drawbacks
The masses live in a world of gain and loss.
A master knows nothing can be gained nor lost - only transformed (Law of Conservation)
Fear is a byproduct of imbalanced perceptions of the mind. Humans learn through contrast. We can't know hot without cold, happy without sad, etc.
Therefore, we have perception and contrast to help us learn and process information. Perception is a necessary tool... but like any tool, it can also work against us.
Our emotions can make us aware of when our perceptions are working against us.
When we label something as "bad", we're conscious of the drawbacks and unconscious of the benefits.
When we label something "good", we're conscious of the benefits and unconscious of the drawbacks.
Both are lies (half truths)
[Sidenote: Emerging science continues to validate these two "hemispheres" of the mind exist. We're now able to identify that for every memory we have we also have an anti-memory]
We know that perceptions of "good" and "bad" are half truths because the language of the Universe is equanimity.
There is a perfect balance at all times. Nothing is good or bad - it's both. It's prices and payoffs, benefits and drawbacks.
Forest fires clear the forest floors making way for light and water to feed new life while dispersing vital nutrients back into the soil.
Supernovas explode in the cosmos giving birth to the new stars.
The bubonic plague killed millions in the 14th century but descendants of those impacted were later immune during the AIDS epidemic of the 80s and 90s (thanks to a mutation known as CCR5-Δ32 which also protects against influenza, West Nile virus, and tick-borne encephalitis). What once took life also saved lives.
When you understand this, you understand that every curse brings with it an equal and opposite blessing.
Knowing this, overcoming fear is simple (though not easy).
When we experience fear, it's a sign that our perceptions are out of balance. Restoring balance restores power over life rather than life overpowering you.
Example:
It's no secret that I'm going through my own challenges right now. I had a thriving company producing $500,000 - $1,000,000 per month in profits.
I left that company to focus on something I find more inspiring - Inspirean: our courses in Self-Mastery and Leadership - sharing the same mental fortitude tools that helped me go from working in a coffee shop to becoming a multi-millionaire.
That hasn't been without it's challenges.
I've lost over $2,000,000 in cash and let go of 17 employees since stepping in as CEO of Inspirean.
So far, none of our cold-traffic campaigns have produced ROI—but each one has given us data and insight that brought us closer to cracking the code.
The key difference between building Inspirean and building my previous companies is this:
Now I have something to "lose".
But... as I shared... nothing is gained nor lost. It only transforms.
As I'm facing fears of losing my wealth, I find myself asking: "How does this benefit me?"
One such example is this: in times of contraction, we increase efficiency.
As we've scaled back operations, we are forced to be more diligent and vigilant about our activities, human resources, and capital - what we work on, who works on them, and risk/reward ratios.
While this may feel painful in the present, it's what makes businesses stronger in the long run.
Visiting these thoughts helps me see how today's challenges support my vision for a beautiful company that serves its clients in a remarkable and unprecedented ways.
I see the hidden order in the apparent chaos and can find gratitude in the midst of the storm.
They say, "Courage isn't the absence of fear. It's moving forward in the face of it's presence."
In reality, courage and fear are two sides of the same coin - entangled in a beautiful dance playing out in our consciousness.
One is no more valuable than the other. Both are half-truths.
In the center, is gratitude.
Fear lives in the future. Power lives in the present. And gratitude is the doorway between the two.
Find gratitude and you'll find power.
